The Los Angeles Scene: 5 Hot Spots for Dinner and Drinks

No matter the time of year, Los Angeles is always a good idea. While there are endless activities to do and sights to see in LA, I’m a big fan of the cocktail and dining scenes. That said, below are 5 hot spots that I’m totally obsessed with.

Under the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills sits a magical culinary experience. Whether you are up for the 21-course Omakase menu, the tapas menu with traditional Spanish flavors or smoking molecular cocktails, this space will not disappoint. Even if you don’t go for dinner, it’s worth stopping in to check out the Philippe Starck designed interior, stylish people and fun drinks. 465 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles; (310) 246-5555; www.sbe.com/restaurants/locations/thebazaar-beverlyhills

Craig’s (West Hollywood)

A standard steakhouse vibe, but with frequent celebrities and influencers

Once you make it past the paparazzi and into your spacious leather booth, you’ll find a menu offering the Italian comfort foods and standard steakhouse dishes you love. The service is very professional and the bartenders make a mean dirty martini. Reservations can be limited as Craig’s is a popular dinner spot for celebrities (nightly). 8826 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood; (310) 276-1900: www.craigs.la

Laurel Hardware (West Hollywood)

While the original tool shop sign may remain, this space has transformed into a fashionable eatery which draws a young, sexy crowd. The menu consists of local and seasonal organic produce, and hormone-free and free-range proteins to create what they call “new American cuisine with global influences.” Scoring a table in the gorgeous garden is key for dining on a nice evening (which is most nights in LA, right?). 7984 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood; (323) 656-6070; www.laurelhardware.com

Located on top of the Hollywood Hills, the historic mountain palace – built int 1914 – includes an 8-acre Japanese garden, pagoda, koi pond, stunning views of the city and a fine dining restaurant offering Asian inspired cuisine with an emphasis on sustainable California ingredients. This Los Angeles mainstay is an institution, and is perfect for those looking to impress a visitor, have drinks with a stunning view or enjoy a romantic dinner. 1999 N. Republique is a modern French bistro in a striking space full of history, beginning with the use of Charlie Chaplin’s office and later becoming the beloved Campanile and La Brea Bakery. The menu offers a mix of share plates such as caviar, oysters, starters, salads, charcuterie items, pastas, fish, and steak and fries. It’s great for breaking away from the scene to share a casual meal with friends. 624 La Brea Ave, Los Angeles; (310) 362-6115; www.republiquela.com

I also love the Mexican food in Los Angeles, CA. Check out my top picks, here
