A New Kind of Minimal

A New Kind of Minimal

Dressing in a minimal fashion typically refers to staying away from color, patterns, and anything that could be considered loud. However, I’ve never been the kind of gal that completely abides the rules, so I won’t be starting now.

While keeping to my own guidelines for minimalism – clean, simple pieces that can easily be mixed and matched – I paired these bold black and white stripes (skirt here) with one of my favorite tees (my go-to brand for graphic tees is Suburban Riot; select styles also at Nordstrom). As I recently shared, the casual t-shirt paired with skirt combo is current trending around NYC (read here).  I personally love it, especially when the pieces are ultra-soft. This is why I topped the look with this track jacket by Bailey 44, as it provides a  more delicate alternative to denim.

Keeping with the ‘comfort is king’ concept, I finished the look off with a pair of white sneakers (a true minimalist styling piece). These Chanel kicks were a splurge purchase, but I recently found some dups that are less than $60 (here and here).

Below, you can see more of this new kind of minimal. I hope it inspires you to bend the rules a bit and create a look of your own.

This post was made in collaboration with Bailey 44, however, opinions are my own.
