NYC Scene: At Grand Banks, it’s Nautical Style or Bust

NYC Scene: At Grand Banks, it’s Nautical Style or Bust

Thank you, Summer Solstices! It’s officially time to break out your boater hats (see a round-up of this summer’s best hats below) and head outside for all the fun-in-sun activities that you were waiting on during the wacky-weathered spring. Not only has the hot and sticky air decided that it’s here to stay, but we now have more daylight hours to stay out in it longer. Sure, some folks aren’t thrilled about the higher humidity but to this, I say “pass the rosé, please!”

During these extra hours of sunshine, I like to visit my favorite floating restaurant and bar, Grand Banks. The sailboat turned happy hour hot spot in downtown New York City is one of the best locations for enjoying a waterside view of the Big Apple. From the vessel, you can see the World Trade Center and Statue of Liberty, all while also appreciating seasonal eats and libations.

To truly take in the full sailboat experience, one should opt for wearing a nautical-inspired outfit, like these white trousers (here) and striped top (here). I like to add a bit of a modern edge by adding metallic sandals (here) and a cute bag (like this circle handle mini here). Then, once outfitted in your finest maritime threads, you may want to give the rose on tap a try (yes, summer water flows from a keg at Grand Banks!) and summon a dozen oysters or a tasty lobster roll to come to your way. However, be aware that if your sea legs are a bit wobbly you may want to take it easy on the cocktails while aboard the wavering watercraft.

Before you go though, I’ve included more of this look and additional styling options for you to consider below. You can thank me later when you show up looking nautical chic and capture that perfect Instagram photo. Cheers to summer officially being here, friends!
