How to Take Summer’s “It” Print Next Level

How to Take Summer’s “It” Print Next Level

The gingham takeover is in full effect on the streets of New York City (and probably on your Instagram feed too). From deconstructed dresses and rompers to off-the-shoulder tops, these classic black and white checks have taken center stage. However, to add a new-age twist, Gingham has been modernized with an infusion of color.

I’ve been seeing the trending print pop-up in popular summer pantones like blue, pink, red, and yellow. My latest favorite is yellow so when I first saw this ruffled hem skirt (here), I knew it would be perfect for summer print mixing. While a simple silk cami could have been easily paired with this modern gingham, I found that adding stripes instantly elevated the look from the girl next door to style maven (top here).

To ensure style star status your footwear game always needs to be strong, so I went with a green block heel (these Gucci babes are sold out in green but other styles are below). A bright pump or metallic sandal would have also set this look off. To me, footwear is how one gets to show their adventurous side. Would you agree?

Below, you can see more of this look, as well as additional styling options.

Hi Cathy! The top is by Bardot and it’s from Bloomingdale’s, which is currently having an online sale for 25% select items. Barot has a few similar styles, as well as Aqua and DL1960. Most are under $100:) Here’s the link to the exact top: http://rstyle.me/n/cpkm7cb7b27
