During a recent city escape, my wanderlust took me out West. As I prepared to leave the knee-high banks of snow that lined the street outside of my New York City apartment, I looked to pack as little as possible. All I could think about was living that resort life and basking in the desert heat.
I decided that I would only bring pieces that were going to give me all the vacation feels, as I had little intent on leaving The Phoenician Resort grounds while in Scottsdale, Arizona. So, when I saw that the NYC-based folks at Parker had come out with the perfect city escape pieces in their latest easy-to-wear collections for the beach and getaways, I immediately sent an SOS. I was in dire need of mercury levels that would melt the frost off my frozen bones, but only had a closet full of turtlenecks. Thankfully my stylish friends came to the rescue with this poolside-cool cover-up with fringe and tassel details (here).
This south-of-the-border inspired cover-up ended up taking me from day to night. I wore it over my bikini with a pair of flat sandals to the pool in the early morning. Then later in the early evening, after a refuel of vitamin D and a relaxing stop by the resort’s incredible spa, I put white shorts on underneath and added a pair of red block heels for sunset drinks on the deck during the desert’s amazing golden hour. Wearing this comfortable, festive number all day made my cold weather escape feel legit and I was finally able to mentally get away from all my city woes.
