Ruffled Hems and Kitten Heels

Ruffled Hems and Kitten Heels

Give me an asymmetrical silhouette, high waist line, plus ruffled hems, and you’ve got a girl that’ll dance through anything that the day throws her way. If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ve probably foreseen this Alice + Olivia skirt coming since you already know that my mind has ruffles, ruffless, and more rufflesss on repeat.

Since nothing fuels me up like a swinging skirt and an amazing pair of shoes, this combo really makes me want to get moving. Yet, I have to admit that the days of me strutting around in 4-inch stilettos have passed (although they do occasionally appear with a two-hour max limit). That said, I am completely over the moon about fall’s kitten heel shoe trend. I’ll also divulge that these timeless Dior slingbacks put a huge dent in my wallet. Still, I consider these to be like art, and plan on loving them all the more when they become vintage.

While I’m aware that not everybody agrees that shelling out a fortune on skirts and shoes is a sane thing to do, I’m also aware that we all want to feel great in the clothes that we do purchase. So if you’re going to invest in a few feel-good pieces for the fall season, you might want to try on some ruffled hems and heels (of a practical height, that is – see the round-up of these, at various price points, below).

I’d like to point out that I always try to create a bit of balance in my wardrobe by styling in a high/low fashion. If I’m head over (kitten) heels for a high-ticket garment, then I seek out an affordable pairing for it – like this satin, open-shoulder dress from Forever 21 (yes, this top is actually a dress that I tied in a knot because its golden color complimented the skirt sooo well that I had to make it happen!).

This cinnamon-colored, woven leather bag is part of the new arrivals from Kooba and is also part of an ongoing partnership that I have with them. If you find yourself too often shopping in a sea of sameness, then you should check them out.

Below, you can see my round-up of trend-led finds at various price points that are sure to perk up your wardrobe as we move into fall.
